How To Get To Deling City From Galbadia Garden

Deling City

Walkthrough

Leave the train station. You could get a bus ride to your destination, instead head east to reach the Deling Hotel. Get a room and read an issue of Timer Maniacs.

Cards

From the Galbadia Hotel head further down the road. In the next screen, there will be a weapon shop. On the other side there will be a man in a black suit. Play cards with him to win the Kiros card from him. He will only play that card, if you lost your MiniMog card to the Queen of Cards earlier in the game.

Walkthrough

If you head down the road from Galbadia Hotel you will eventually end up at an intersection. Head east from there to reach General Caraway's Mansion. You will be denied access. Instead you are tasked with getting to the Tomb of the Unknown King and bring back the ID of a missing Galbadian Student. Buy the location displayer from the guard if you are a completionist. It is not essential to have it though. Ask him to escort you out of the city. On the world map head northeast until you reach the tomb.

At the entrance of the tomb you can draw some Protect. Head inside and head one screen up. Inspect the sword to get the student's ID. We could leave now, but that would leave us with some unfinished business. From the sword screen head right, up, right, up, right and up again to encounter Sacred. You can draw Shell, Protect and Life from him!

After the fight move down, up, right, up, right, up, right, and up. Here you can find a Float draw point in the left corner. Pull the hardly visible lever in the right corner to let water flow in. Now head down, up, right, up, right, up, right, and up again. Draw some Cura from the draw point and activate the contraption on the left wall. This will lower the bridge at the center of the tomb. Let's head outside to save the game and prepare for a boss battle by going down, up, right, up, right, up, right, and up.

Head back inside and run straight up until you enter the chamber after crossing the bridge. This time Sacred is not alone. He is joined by his brother Minotaur who carries Double with him. The fight will reward you with the new GF Brothers, 40 AP and the Sacred card as well as the Minotaur card. You are done here for now. Leave the tomb.

Cards

The Sacred card is the Queen's current desire, so we should head back all the way to Dollet to lose it to her. It's preferable that you send her back to Balamb. At all costs you need to stop her from going to Deling City! You can win back your card from her son here in Dollet.

Walkthrough

At this point in the game it is theoretically possible to create Squall's best weapon, Lionheart. You need the following items:

Another desirable weapon is Selphie's Strange Vision. It never misses and therefore can be considered a valuable upgrade. It requires:

Cursed Spikes (2x)	Card mod 1 Tri-Face card to get 1
Star Fragment (3x)	Card mod 3 Iron Giant cards to get 1

The Grendels that drop Dragon Fangs are located in the little wood near Galbadia Garden, where you dreamt about Laguna earlier. Hug the mountain side (your location must say Monterosa Plateau). The Grendels are by any means a good enemy to card (which will also grant you their Dragon Fang drops). Grendel cards can be modded into 20 Double spells. Also sometimes they card into the LVL 7 boss Tiamat card which can be modded to 10 Flare Stones which can be modded into 10 Flare spells! They are a guaranteed enemy encounter in this area, come alone and grant 6 AP! So even if you just need some AP, these guys are worth carding! If you want to use the opportunity to mug some future bosses, you should let Diablos learn the Mug ability. If you don't want to amass the 200 AP necessary, it's ok, the items you can get are not essential.

Once you are all set up, head back to Deling City and over to Caraway's Mansion. During the upcoming scenes, simply follow General Caraway through Deling City.

Characters

We find out that General Caraway is actually Rinoa's father. So while he is a decorated General of the Galbadian Government, his daughter is an independence fighter.

Story

General Caraway briefs us about the upcoming mission. There is going to be a ceremony at the Presidential Residence. The team will split up. The gateway team will enter the gateway and stand by while the sniper team stands by at the front of the Presidential Residence until the ceremony is over. After that a parade for the sorceress will commence. During that the gateway team will lock the sorceress in and the sniper team will take its shot.

Walkthrough

After the mission briefing head back to the Mansion where Squall and Irvine are grouped together as the sniper team. Selphie, Zell and Quistis will form the gateway team. Follow Caraway once more to the gateway and afterwards with Squall and Irvine to the Presidential Residence. You will regain control over Quistis who, for whatever reason, decides to go back to the Mansion to apologize to Rinoa (I guess the degradation earlier was more than justified). So head back to the Mansion once more. Quistis and her team will be accidentally locked in by Caraway.

When in control of Rinoa, head up the boxes and enter the Presidential Residence through the roof. Things don't go as planned though.

Characters

Rinoa confronts Edea to give her the anti-sorceress bangle she found in her father's mansion. But things go terribly wrong and it seems like Edea puts her under some kind of possession spell.

During her speech to the audience, Edea goes rogue, first killing President Deling and then promising a new era of terror before releasing some evil creatures into the crowd.

Walkthrough

Back at the mansion Quistis is looking for a way out of her prison. Check the cupboard with the glasses and put one of the glasses in the stone figure's hands to open a secret passage. Enter the sewers and use the water wheel to proceed.

Now you are with Squall and Irvine. Check your junctions and prepare for a boss battle. Before you follow Rinoa up the boxes, run around the car and enter the sewers. Head west until you eventually find the Weapons Monthly, May Issue! Head back up and go the same way Rinoa did earlier. Do not miss your chance to draw your next GF Carbuncle from one of the Iguion boss monsters you are about to face! After the fight Rinoa joins the sniper team. Head back a room and investigate the hatch. Inside you will find the sniper rifle for Irvine.

Characters

Turns out Seifer wasn't executed at all! I wonder who reported it in the first place. Anyway, when Squall tells Rinoa about it, she seems prepared for the worst, being Squall killing him in order to get to Edea.

Rinoa gets back to normal and is freed of whatever Edea did to her. She admits to have been immensly scared and is very thankful that Squall came to her rescue!

Walkthrough

You regain control over Quistis and her team who are still down in the sewer. Equip Enc-Non and make your way through the sewer. Exit to reach the gateway just in time to hit the switch!

Characters

Irvine panics but eventually is able to take the shot due to Squall's superb leadership qualities. Although he aims perfectly, the shot misses because Edea sees it coming from a mile away!

Squall has no other choice than to confront them head on. We learn that Seifer has become Edea's knight. The question why he did remains unanswered.

Walkthrough

Back with the sniper team, you get the chance to organize your junctions and allocate your new GF. Prepare for the imminent boss battle with Seifer and Edea.

Characters

Ok this is big. What did we just see? This question is basis for many theories. Many think, that at this point in the game, Squall actually dies and that everything after the events of CD 1 is merely a dream. I am not so sure about that. The ice arrow or whatever it is, clearly went in at the right side of his chest, missing the heart by a lot. Other arguments will be introduced later in this guide.
